Replacing the Front Bezel

Phone Home
Perform a Phone Home in the Storage Center System Manager to send the current system
information to Dell Technical Support Services. The System Manager displays the Phone
Home status and indicates when the process is completed successfully.

From the Storage Management menu, select
System
→
Phone Home
→
Phone Home
. The System Manager displays previous Phone Home events.

Click
Phone Home Now
. The
Phone Home
wizard appears.

Click
OK
. The
Phone Home
wizard displays the status of each item that is being sent.
Items that are being sent will have a status of
In Progress
. Once completed, this status
will change to
Success
if the Phone Home has completed successfully, or
Failure
if the
Phone Home could not be completed.

When all items have been sent successfully, click
Close
.
Contact Dell Technical Support Services
Contact Dell Technical Support Services to let them know that you will be performing a
repair, and request that they suspend alerts for the enclosure. Ask Dell Technical Support
Services for a pre-installation system check.
Shut Down the Controller(s) and Enclosure(s)
If the FRU is not hot-swappable, use the Storage Center System Manager to shut down the
controller(s) and enclosure(s). Shutting down the controller(s) and enclosure(s) results in a
system outage, so plan to perform these procedures during a maintenance window.

Before shutting down the controller(s) and enclosure(s), make sure you identify the
failed part.

From the Storage Management menu, select
System
→
Shutdown/Restart
. The
Shutdown/Restart
dialog box appears.

Select
Shutdown
and click
OK
.

When the controller(s) and enclosure(s) are shut down, unplug the power cables from
the enclosure.
Replacing the Front Bezel
The front bezel is a cover for the front panel of the enclosure.
When replacing some FRUs, you may need to remove the front bezel. In these cases, the
replacement procedure in this document refers to these instructions.

Use the system key to unlock the keylock at the left end of the bezel.

Lift the release latch next to the keylock.

Rotate the left end of the bezel away from the front panel.
4
Unhook the right end of the bezel and pull the bezel away from the enclosure.
