Powering Down the IP4700
To turn off power:
1. Stop all I/O activity to the IP4700. Refer to Chapter 8 in the
IP4700 Administrator’s Guide (069701169) for a description of the
storage processor shutdown procedure.
NOTE:
Stopping the I/O allows the storage processor to destage cache
data, and may take some time. The length of time is based on criteria
such as the amount of cache, the amount of data in the cache, the type of
data in the cache, and the target location.
2. If the server connected to the IP4700 is running the UNIX®
operating system, unmount the file systems.
3. Use the power switches on each SPS to turn off power as shown
in Figure 2-19.

Powering Down
When you turn off power to a storage system with an SPS, the Battery
On light may come on for a maximum of 90 seconds during which
time the IP4700 will continue to run. This is a normal condition. Wait
