Removing the hard drive backplane
Prerequisites
CAUTION:
To prevent damage to the drives and backplane, remove the hard drives from the system before removing the
backplane.
CAUTION:
Note the number of each hard drive and temporarily label them before you remove the hard drive so that you can
replace them in the same location.
NOTE:
The procedure to remove the backplane is similar for all backplane configurations.

Remove the air shroud.

Remove the backplane cover.
5
Remove all hard drives from the front bay.

Disconnect all the cables from the backplane.
Steps
1
Press the blue release tabs and lift the backplane to disengage the backplane from the hooks on the system.

If your backplane has an expander board, then remove the screws securing the expander board and loosen the captive screws on the
expander board before you remove the backplane.
