negative pole).
3. Tighten the terminals with a suitable torque (15 Nm - 20 Nm).
4. Connect a UTP CAT5 cable between the CAN/RS485 board and the battery communication connector.
For the required connections and settings, please refer to the section “ACCESSORIES”, paragraph
“CAN/RS485 BOARD” and to the section “PROGRAMMING THE SYSTEM” paragraph “BATTERY”.
5. Where required, connect the battery cables by using a ring terminal on the opposite end of the battery
cable.
The batteries must be located in specific areas, in compliance with local legislation.
Isolate the battery poles in order to prevent accidental short-circuits. Short-circuited poles can cause sparks,
fires or damages to the batteries.
The incorrect connection of the battery cables (polarity reversal) does not damage the DLS thanks to the
built-in safety device, but prevents the system from operating until the correct polarity of the connection is
restored. The incorrect connection message is shown on the LCD display.
4.6.6 Connecting an Auxiliary Power Generator (optional)
See the connection diagram and illustration shown in
Figure 10
.
The DLS system is able to control power generators with a 230Vac 50/60Hz output and a maximum nomi-
nal power of up to 7kVA. Failure to follow the parameters shown could cause permanent faults and dam-
ages to the equipment, as well as to the system it is connected to.
Before starting the connection operations, make sure that the AC GRID, AC OUT and GEN internal circuit
breakers are set to off (Position “O”).
Before starting the connection operations, switch off the auxiliary power generator and disconnect the AC
line external main switch coming from the UPS unit (Position “O”).
Before starting the connection operations, make sure that the internal DC line switch is set to off (Position
"O").
Before starting the connection operations, make sure that the AC BYPASS switch is set to on. This allows
the battery automatic switch to be controlled and the line to be isolated (Position “I”).
Connect the power generator live (L), neutral (N) and earth (PE) wires to the GEN terminal strip by following
the correct colour coding:
• Live (L)
→
GREY terminal
• Neutral (N)
→
BLUE terminal
• Earth (PE)
→
YELLOW/GREEN terminal
Use power generators with a nominal power suitable for the system to be supplied. If the generator nominal
power is too low, permanent faults and damages to the system could occur, as well as to the system it is
connected to.
If the power generator being used is fitted with an independent switching on device and of a remote start-up
contact, the DLS system can automatically control the switching on operation and the demand, according to
the system energy balance. To interface the control, a home automation PCB (optional) must be used. For
the required connections and settings, refer to the section “ACCESSORIES” paragraph “HOME AUTOMA-
TION PCB”.
