galley on the starboard side cabinet face, with vents in the salon, master,
and forward berth. These vents control direction and volume of airflow.
Adjust them for your comfort.
In addition there is a fan heater unit under the pilot house settee that
operates from engine heat. The switch is on the starboard end of the settee.
Thermostats
The thermostat is the primary on/off switch for all heat; it is located on the
cabinet across from the galley. When the thermostat calls for heat the Espar
comes on. Turn the fan switch to full orange for maximum heat, or half
orange for less. Control the heat to each location by the louvers (for
direction) or the center button for open/close.
The heater runs off the house bank of batteries and will shut
down if the battery level falls below 11.8 volts. If using the
heat at anchor make sure the batteries have been charged
prior to shutting off the generator.
The defroster fans in the wheelhouse do not require
thermostats. These units will operate as fan units whether heat is
available or not.
Troubleshooting Heating System
If there is no heat present there are a number of items to check.
1.
Is the house bank below 12 volts? Make sure heater switch is turned
on at panel.
2.
Is the thermostat turned on and above the current temperature?
Raise temperature setting until thermostat “clicks”. The knob must
point to the full or half orange circle on the thermostat face.
3.
Is the fan running? Make sure switch is on High (full orange)or Low
(half orange).
4.
Is the face of the vent open (if applicable)?
5.
Do any other zones have heat?
6.
Very rarely the reset switches on the Espar must be pressed. Consult
the manual for their location on the heater unit.
