NOTE:
A quick and easy way to run the fans and compressor is by using
the dap4, Menu I
– Manual Control (Service Level). See dap4 IOM
instructions for details. All automatic control is disabled but safety
switches will remain functional.
During manual control, all automatic control is disabled but the system
safety switches will remain functional
Charging the Fixed Speed Compressor
Charging requires the unit to be in operation. Before turning the system ON to finish charging the circuit,
make sure to check for voltage phasing. For more information on this refer to section
WARNING:
When working within the electrical enclosure or on any of the
electrical circuits, risk of electric shock must be avoided and can cause
injury or death. Always disconnect all electrical facility power from the unit
before working within.
If equipped with two circuits, temporarily disable the Variable Speed Compressor (circuit 1) by setting
the Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) in the OFF condition or by removing the fuses to prevent this
compressor from starting during the charging of the fixed speed compressor.
If the unit is equipped with an optional disconnect switch, turn the disconnect switch to the ON position
to allow facility electrical power to the unit.
The unit dap4 controller may be turned ON (or OFF) by pressing the Power icon at the bottom left
corner of the main screen. The icon is green when the unit is ON and red when unit is OFF. Once
controller is turned ON there will be a 5 to 600 second start delay indicate
d by “Time before start: XXs”
on the display to allow the controller to complete a boot up process and conduct an internal self-test.
Before starting the system, the initial pre-charge process must be complete and make sure pressure
gauges and suction line temperature sensor are hooked up.
Use the Temp Setpoint under Menu B
– Setpoints to force the circuit 1 or 2 (if applicable) compressor
to start in the normal operating mode. A call for cooling can artificially be created from the controller by
setting the Temp Setpoint to a value lower than the current ambient temperature in the space.
Example: Existing return air temperature (RAT) is 75
F (23.9
C), set the controller Temperature
Setpoint to 65
F (18.3
C). The compressor will start and run at a full speed.
Before starting the system, make sure pressure gauges and suction line temperature sensor are
hooked up and refrigerant readings are aligned with EEV reading.
If the unit is in OFFbyKEY position, hold the ESC key for 5 seconds to start the system via the dap4
controller. Allow time for all fans to start and for the system to stabilize to room temperature. Bubbles
in the sight glass are not unusual at this point. It is likely that more refrigerant will be required to
complete the charging procedure.
