Because the drive relies on the ambient air for cooling, it is important to observe the
limitations on ambient air temperature and elevation mentioned in the Instruction
Manual.
Environmental concerns and derating start once the VLT goes above its 24-hour
average temperature rating or its maximum temperature rating. Derating is also
concerned when the elevation exceeds 1kM (3300 feet). More is explained on the
next slides.
