Maximum Trigger (Line) Rate
There are now two configurations of the Piranha XL camera.
•
The high speed configuration PX-HM-16K12B-00-R has a useful operating range from 14 kHz
up to 125 kHz. It will operate below 14 kHz but may experience increased offset associated
with dark current, both on a pixel and global basis.
•
The low speed configuration PX-HM-16K06B-00-R has a useful operating range from 0 kHz
up to 60 kHz. It can achieve defect free stop / start imaging

Effect of Exposure Time on Maximum Line Rate
When 4 and 8 rows are selected, only certain exposure times can achieve the full 125 kHz line rate,
as detailed below. This is a result of the process used by the camera’s sensor to detect and
synchronizing to a line trigger.
To achieve the maximum line rate, the following exposure times in 8 and 4 rows must be selected:
•
8 rows (µsec): 1.2, 1.84, 2.48, 3.12 3.84, 4.48, 5.12, 5.76
•
4 rows (µsec): 1.44, 2.48, 3.92
Exposure times between these values will result in slightly lower maximum line rates. Exposure
times greater than the maximum values above will reduce line rate progressively as the times get
larger and must remain within the line rate period limitation.
The maximum line rate for 12 rows is not sensitive to this synchronization limitation.
