DAS-100/200
Dallmeier electronic GmbH & Co.KG
The various SCSI cables are sensitive components of the system.
Damaged cables may cause drops in performance and / or data
loss.
Remember the following points when connecting the cables:
z
Do not kink the cables (maintain a bending angle of > 90°)
z
Distance from live cables at least 20 cm
z
Secure the cables after installation
5.3.2
Serial
The connection between DMS/DLS and the DAS via the serial
interface is used for transmitting status messages to the DMS/
DLS. These messages are output to the recorder (as from version
5.3.1 with SP G) or forwarded to the PGuard software (as from
recorder version 5.3.1 and PGuard 4.0.0).
The connection is made at both DAS systems with the black serial
cable using the RS232 interface. The serial interface can be freely
selected at the DMS/DLS (COM1 or COM2).
Even in the case of a dual host system or a cascading storage
system is only one serial connection may be made between a DMS/
DLS and a DAS. In other words only the status messages from a
specific DAS can be output to a specific DMS/DLS.
The following settings have to be made on the DMS/DLS:
1. The appropriate serial interface must be set to
External storage system (Setup > Interfaces > Serial).
2. The System system messages must be activated
(Setup > System > Options > System Messages).
5.4
Configuration DMS/DLS
If a DAS system is used, in addition to the normal configuration of
the DMS/DLS recorder (for example track and camera settings),
the exclusive recorder to the external storage system must also be
ensured. This is done in the Setup > Recording > HDD Manage-
ment dialog.
