Motor Mounting Instructions (Single Crated Fans Only)
SUMMARY: The instructions describe how to properly install the motor on your new 54" Galvanized
Butterfly Damper Fan. Upon delivery of your 54" Galvanized Fan, you will notice that the motor has
been turned around and bolted into location to decrease the width of pallet and maximize shipping
container space. In order to orient the motor properly for fan operation you will need to follow the
below steps
.
NOTE: Motor instructions on this page do not apply to Q skids.
NOTE: Motor instructions on this page do not apply to single crate fan orders prior to December 2012.
Step 1:
shown below shows how the motor will look after the fan is installed in the wall of the
building. (Note that two (2) front bolts/nuts hold the motor in place while two (2) rear bolts/nuts are
installed in holes on the same bracket.)
Step 2:
Loosen and remove all four (4) nuts and four (4) bolts shown in
Step 3:
Motor should now be free from bracket.
CAREFULLY
rotate the motor 180° around on the motor
plate so that the centerline of the motor pulley is located over the rectangular slot in the motor
bracket. (Note that the positioning of the holes in the bracket along with the pre-set pulley should
allow the motor to be placed in only the correct position.)
Step 4:
Re-attach motor to plate using the four (4) nuts and four (4) bolts previously removed in
Step 5:
Tighten the four (4) nuts and four (4) bolts to a torque setting of 13 foot/pounds.
Step 6:
The belt is tie wrapped to the fan around one of the vertical uprights. Wrap the belt around the
motor pulley, driven pulley and tensioner arm pulley’s.
Step 7:
Fan is now ready to be powered on provided the fan is secured to the wall, all applicable safety
guards are installed and the fan has been wired by a qualified electrician.
