Belts

7

     The RT 75 tiller has two belts; a forward drive belt and a 
reverse belt. Both belts have to come off together. MTD 
recommends replacing both belts at the same time.

To remove/replace the belts:

1.

Disconnect and ground the spark plug wire.

2.

Remove the two screws that secure the belt cover. 
See Figure 2.1.

3.

Swing the belt cover up and off of the tiller.

4.

Slide the forward drive belt off of the engine pulley.

5.

Loosen the nut and bolt that secure the reverse idler 
pulley to the idler bracket using a pair of 7/16” 
wrenches.  See Figure 2.2.

6.

Slide the reverse belt past the belt guards and off of 
the idler pulley.
