wood surface may have defects (scuffing, longitudinal
stripes, etc) Special attention shall be paid to control
of the blades condition as this will ensure safer opera-
tion and higher results of work
Grooving (see fig. 6)
•
Set the required rebate width using side stop
12
(see fig. 6).
•
Set the required rebate height using vertical stop
13
(see fig. 6).
•
Perform planing pressing side stop
12
against the
workpiece side surface Repeat the operation until the
desired result is reached
Edge chamfering (see fig. 7)
V-groove
2
allows chamfering at the edges of treated
workpieces
Incline the power tool at 45° (see fig. 7) and perform
planing During operation special attention shall be
paid to angle of the power tool inclination and uniform-
ity of conveying
Power tool maintenance / preventive
measures
Before carrying out any works on the power tool it
must be disconnected from the mains.
Do not draw up the fastening elements
too tight to avoid damaging the
thread.
It is required to replace the dull blades in
good time. In order to prevent unbalance
and vibration always replace both blades at
the same time. Use blades of the same type.
Never operate the power planer with only one blade
installed.
Be careful when replacing blades of the
power planer to prevent injuries from
blade edges. After replacement of blades
always rotate drum to make sure that it
has free running. Also check tightening of clamp
-
ing bolts 22.
I
nterchangeable blades (see fig. 8-12)
[CT14019X]
Blades
24
are sharpened from both sides and their
design do not provide for their re-sharpening In case
one blade edge becomes blunted blades
24
should be
turned, if both blade edges become blunted blades
24
should be replaced Hereinafter referred to as "inter-
changeable blade"
•
Adjust the planing depth to "0"
•
Turn the power tool over and loosen clamping
bolts
22
using wrench
15
(see fig. 8).
•
Using the wrench
15
move the interchangeable
blade
24
to the side and extract it, as shown in fig. 9.
•
Replace interchangeable blade
24
or turn it over (if
the second cutting edge of the blade is sharp enough)
as shown in fig. 10.1.
•
Install the interchangeable blade
24
in place, as
shown in fig. 10.1.
•
Put a metal ruler to the side surfaces of base
plates
1
and
9
and align the side part of interchangeable
blade
24
(see fig. 10.2).
•
Put the metal ruler to the top surfaces of base
plates
1
and
9
and make interchangeable blade
24
touch the ruler in the upper point by turning adjusting
bolts
26
with the Allen key
25
(see fig. 11), but drum
23
shall be able to turn Ensure that interchangeable
blade
24
is adjusted in a similar way throughout all its
length (interchangeable blade
24
cutting edge shall
be parallel to the surface of front base plate
1
)
•
Tighten clamping bolts
22
with wrench
15
until it
locks all detail in the slot of drum
23
(see fig. 12).
•
Repeat the above operations for the second
interchangeable blade
24

Resharpenable blades (see fig. 13-15)
[CT14019]
Resharpenable blades
32
may be resharpened
When the blade edges become blunted resharpen-
able blades
32
should be dismantled, resharpened
by means of a special device Then they should be
aligned and reinstalled on drum
33
 Hereinafter re-
ferred to as "blades"
•
Turn the power tool over and unscrew bolts
22
using
box wrench
18
(see fig. 13).
•
Remove cover
29
and blade
32
assembled with
adjusting plate
30

•
Unscrew screws
31
and remove adjusting plate
30
from blade
32

•
Clean all parts using a soft brush
•
Sharpen blades
32
as described below
•
Before installation of a new blade
32
make alignment
using blade alignment fixture
17

•
Place blade
32
on
blade alignment fixture
17
(see
fig. 14.2).
Attention: blade alignment fixture 17 has
factory setting and does not require any additional
adjustment.
•
Align the cutting edge of blade
32
along the lug of
blade alignment fixture
17
 Press the vertical part of
adjusting plate
30
to the vertical surface of blade align-
ment fixture
17
as shown in figure 14.2. Match the
holes in adjusting plate
30
with the holes in blade
32
moving adjusting plate
30
along blade alignment fix
-
ture
17
 Tighten screws
31

If the length of blade 32
is not sufficient for alignment due to multiple re
-
sharpening both blades 32 must be replaced.
•
Place blade
32
assembled with adjusting plate
30
on
drum
33
as shown in figure 14.3.
•
Put a metal ruler to the side surfaces of base plates
1
and
9
and align the side part of blade
32
(see fig. 15.1).
•
Place cover
29
and tighten bolts
22
using box
wrench
18
(see fig. 15.2).
•
Repeat the above operations for the second blade
32

Sharpening of the resharpenable blades (see
fig. 14.1)
[CT14019]
Always sharpen both blades 32 at the
same time and only using blade sharpen
-
ing device 16, as this will ensure the right
sharpening angle.
