Braking Techniques
T-brake (Fig. I)
When using the “T-stop technique”, shift all of
your weight to one foot. Now move the other
foot behind the first one and place it behind the
first one at a right angle.
Then shift your weight from the front to the inside
edge on your back ice skate and apply increas-
ingly more pressure to brake.
Plough stop (Fig. J)
Position the blades so they are at a slight angle
to the skating direction, apply your weight in the
balls of your feet and brake with both legs.
Maintenance
Sharpening the blades
CAUTION!
For your own safety,
the blades should only be
resharpened by an expert (sports shop
or ice skating rink)! No changes should
be made to the blade holders!
Please note that there must be a radius of at least
5 mm on the ends of the blades after sharpen-
ing. Make sure that the blades aren’t just hollow
ground, but that the radius is also ground.

We recommend having the blades sharpened
from time to time as soon as they become dull.
This will improve skating performance consider-
ably.
