5. Preparation
Prepare Footing & Insert Anchor Bolts
a.
To ensure adequate support, the concrete footing used to mount this
lamp post should be at least 12" X 12" and 16" deep. Consult local
electrical codes for required footing depth, wiring type and other
restrictions. Level forms for footing using a Builder's Level. Mix concrete
so that it is stiff. Concrete should be poured around the conduit carrying
power to the fixture (see Diagram A).
b.
Wrap Base in plastic bag, as shown in Diagram B, to prevent concrete
from getting onto base. Thread hex nut on anchor bolts completely, as
shown in Diagram B. Make small holes in bottom of plastic bag to allow
anchor bolts and wiring to pass through base.
c.
Insert the supplied anchor bolts through plastic bag into the post base
and secure with cap nuts as shown in Diagram B. Be careful not to
overtighten hex nuts as excess pressure may cause damage to post base.
Use tape to patch any holes in bag.
d.
Set the base and anchor bolt assembly into the wet concrete, as shown
in Diagram C, by gently wiggling the base while pressing downward
until the bottom of the base is flush with the concrete. Make certain that
concrete has completely covered the anchor bolts.
e.
Check the base to see that it is level in both directions, as shown in
Diagram D.
f.
Leave base (wrapped in plastic bag) and
anchor bolt assembly attached until
concrete has cured. Finish concrete.
g.
To install post on a wood deck use
3/8" wood screws (not included).

6. Post Assembly
a.
Post section with photocell and convenient outlet comes pre-
wired and pre-assembled.
c.
Pull outlet wire out of the base, connect the black wire from outlet
with black wire from conduit supply wire, connect white wire from
outlet with white wire from conduit supply wire, and outlet ground
wire with ground wire from conduit (using wire nuts which are not
included).
d.
Push the wires into the base, reset the base to the bolts and secure
with cap nuts.
