Switch – FADER START
Using these switches, you can switch on the fader start feature (ON) and off (OFF).
The fader start feature controls the play-back feature of CD players which are con-
nected to the connections FADER CONTROL (41) and correspond to the "American
Audio Q-Series” standard.
Example:
When the cross fader (9) is pushed right to the left, the CD player will start playing at
the connection FADER CONTROL A (41). If the cross fader (9) is pushed right to the
right, play-back will start at the CD player at FADER CONTROL B (41) and play-back
at CD player A is stopped (scanner returns to the CUE point, see also the CD player
instructions).
(8)
Beat counter BPM
The two beat counters display the BPM value of the channel assigned at the cross
fader (9).
This display is used to adjust the speed for cross-fader processes with the cross fad-
er (9).
(9)
CROSS FADER
With the aid of this sliding control, you can cross-fade between the two channels
which have been selected using the switches ASSIGN (6).
The one channel is faded out when operating the slide control (becomes softer), at
the same time the other channel is faded in (becomes louder). At the central position
of the CROSS FADER slide control, both channels are reproduced equally.
(10) Display - BEAT OFFSET
The difference between the beat counter values are displayed here optically. This
serves for easier compensation of the speeds before cross-over processes with the
cross-fader (9).
(11) Control - CROSS FADER CURVE
This control sets the control characteristics of the cross fader (9).
In the position "FADER" the cross-fader is gentle, in the position "CUT” harder
cross-faders are created.
The position "FADER” is more suitable for mixing, the position "CUT” more for
"scratching”.
(12) Slide control MASTER 1
The level of the output signal (MASTER 1) of the mixer is set using this control.
Position "0” = minimum level
Position "10” = maximum level

Commissioning
Only commission the device when you have become familiar with
the features and these operating instructions.
1.
Check all connections for correctness again.
2.
Set the slide control MASTER 1 (12) and the control MASTER 2 (17) to "0” or
"MIN”.
3.
Set all channel faders (3) to "0”.
4.
Turn all controls GAIN (24) to "MIN”.
5.
Turn the control TRIM OUTPUT (26) in the clockwise direction up to stop.
6.
Switch on the mixer using the mains switch POWER (19).
7.
Turn down the volume control of the amplifier connected completely.
8.
Switch on the amplifier.
9.
Select the input on the amplifier to which the mixer is connected. (e.g. AUX).
10. Start play-back of a device connected to the mixer inputs (e.g. CD player at the
input CH-3).
11. Switch the input selection switch CH-3 to CD 2.
12. Adjust the input level of CH-3 using the control GAIN (24) for CH-3. Observe the
level display (22) of CH-3; this should be in the "0dB” range and the red light-
emitting diodes (indicator lamps) only light up briefly at top volumes.
13. Now repeat this setting correspondingly for all the input channels used.
14. After you have adapted all the mixer inputs in this manner, adjust the output lev-
el as described in the following.
15. Start a play-back device, e.g. CD player at the input CH-3.
16. Push the channel fader (3) of CH-3 right up to the top.
17. Push the slide control MASTER 1 (12) upwards until the level display MASTER 1
(20) is in the "0dB” range and the red light-emitting diodes (indicator lamps) just
light up briefly.
18. Turn the volume control of the connected amplifier to a suitable volume. 19. Set
the desired maximum volume using the control TRIM OUTPUT (26). Using this
control, the output signal can be limited so that the downstream amplifier at the
output MASTER 1 and the loudspeaker cannot be overloaded.
20. Make sure that the connected loudspeakers and the amplifiers are not over-
loaded. The play-back may in no way be distorted.
