Cleaning
Before cleaning the device, disconnect it from the USB connection. The use of a dry,
soft, lint-free cloth is sufficient to clean the product.
Do not use aggressive detergents as this can cause discolouration.
Do not press the surface too hard during cleaning to avoid scratches.
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, long-haired brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Tips & Notes
a) USB3.0
• USB3.0 devices are downward compatible. This means that the hard disk casing
with the SATA hard disk plugged into it also functions on USB2.0 or slower USB1.1
ports, though only at the maximum USB2.0 or USB1.1. speed.
• In the ideal case, USB3.0 can support speeds higher than 100MBytes depending on
the hard disk in your computer, the hard disk casing with the built-in hard disk as well
as the motherboard!
• For USB3.0, the cable should be selected as short as possible to avoid reduction of
transfer speed.
• To connect the hard disk casing to a USB3.0 port of your computer, you must use a
USB3.0 cable (e.g., the one included in the package contents).
If you use a USB2.0/1.1 extension cable, only the max. speed supported by
USB2.0/1.1 can be achieved and not the transmission speed supported by USB3.0.
• If the hard disk casing is to be connected via a USB hub, it should also support
USB3.0 transmission mode, so that the maximum speed is possible.
b) General
• The LED at the front lights up when the hard disk housing is in operation (Power
LED function) or it flashes during read/write accesses.
• USB devices can be plugged in and unplugged while the PC is in use.
You should, however, take into account that files may be corrupted or the operating
system may crash if the connection cable is disconnected while data is being trans-
ferred or when files are being opened by a program.
In Windows, an arrow symbol is displayed in the menu bar when the hard disk (or
other USB devices) is in operation. Click this arrow symbol to „separate“ the device,
i.e. to terminate data transmission, so you can disconnect the connection cable with-
out risking losing data.
• If you have inserted a USB3.0 plug-in card in your computer (e.g., if your mother-
board does not have any USB3.0 ports), you must check whether this plug-in card
has its own power connection. It available, it must be connected to the PC power
supply unit; otherwise the USB3.0 port will not function correctly or too little current
will be delivered for the hard disk casing containing the hard disk drive to operate.
Disposal
Electrical and electronic products do not belong to the household waste!
When disposing of an unserviceable product, do so in line with the rele-
vant statutory regulations.
