Cathode Current Optimization
Cathode current optimization – TWT’s with anodes can be configured such that the
cathode current is continually monitored and the anode voltage is adjusted periodically
to maintain the optimum cathode current. This in effect will extend the useful operating
life of the TWT by maintaining essentially the dame gain and output power levels that
were originally measured at the factory. This function is configured at the factory and
can be selected with the Enable.
Special Note:
The cathode current optimization feature will automatically be disabled should
the measured cathode current fall out of a +/- 5% window from the original factory set point.
This will protect the TWT from excessive anode voltages should a failure occur in the
measurement circuit.
