MakIng connectIonS vIa the Web InteRFace
Once the peer is created or edited to choose the proper destination (and a proper connection
profile is selected) you can select “
Connect
” to make that connection. LiveShot will take several
seconds to establish CrossLock with the Peer, then set up encoding and decoding parameters on each
end. Finally it should enter the “
Connected
” state and you should have an active media connection.
The
CrossLock Media Link
tab becomes active on connection, and allows a rich view of network
performance in each direction.
Note that CrossLock usually starts its media flow at a throttled rate, so you may notice reduced frame
rate or resolution during the start of a connection. It will reach either its target rate (if the network(s)
support it) or throttle rate (if the network(s) require throttling long-term) within minutes.
LiveShots receiving incoming media streams will see a new entry appear in the peer list, labeled
“
Incoming
”. If Switchboard is being used for the connection, there will be a unit name associated with
the incoming connection. All encode options are defined by the outgoing profile, so no parameters
may be adjusted for incoming connections.
Media can be halted by selecting the “
Disconnect
” option on either end of the link.

The LiveShot Hotkeys (
F1
and
F2
on portable, “
Connect
” menu options on Rack) may be used to
make easy “one press” connections. The first entry (Short press
F1
on portable) is pre-programmed
to the first peer entry. The second entry (Short press
F2
) is programmed for the second (cue channel)
and the third (long press
F1
) is programmed to the third (HD). The fourth (long press
F2
) is pre-
programmed to the loopback test condition.
Peers must have a destination selected, a profile chosen, and the correct hotkey must be assigned to
them before connections are possible this way. When using the hotkey function, network statistics are
not available from the initiating LiveShot (unless the Web interface is also accessed).
Hotkeys on LiveShot portable will flash during the negotiation phase, and light steady when connected.
Rack connections will display connect status on the front panel. Connections can be ended by pressing
the lit key on the portable, or choosing “
Disconnect
” on the rack.
