SCSI Cabling Instructions
for Mass Storage SCSI
Devices
ProLiant 800 servers use three areas for connecting mass storage SCSI
devices: internally with the removable media area, internally with the hard
drive cage, and externally with external storage devices. All of the required
SCSI cabling equipment you will need to install Compaq mass storage devices
is shipped with your Compaq server and the Compaq mass storage SCSI
device option kits.
Wide to Standard SCSI Cable Adapter
for Using Fast-SCSI-2 Devices
To enable the use of Fast-SCSI-2 devices in the removable media area with
the Integrated Wide-Ultra SCSI-3 Controller, an adapter is required between
the Wide SCSI cable and the SCSI device. This adapter, part number 199618-
001, is placed directly between the SCSI cable and the device. The adapter is
included in the hardware kit of the server shipping box or may be obtained
from your local Compaq Reseller or Authorized Compaq Service Provider.
