3. Unlock the security lock to free the system
unit cover.
4. Positioning yourself at the front of the
system unit, slide the system unit cover
toward you until you feel it stop.
5. Lift the cover straight up and off of the
system unit (Figure 7-9).

CAUTION
Many of the components on the system board
and expansion boards are sensitive to static
electricity. Before touching any of the com-
ponents, be sure that you are discharged of
static electricity by briefly touching a metal
object, such as the frame of the computer.
6. Familiarize yourself with the arrange-
ment of the components in the computer
(see Figure 7-10).
To replace the system unit cover, reverse Steps 1
through 5 of the preceding removal procedures.
