30 DSC calls
DSC calls for communication
With a DSC call you can establish a radio communication with one or
several specific radios on a suggested VHF channel.
To make a DSC call for communication, do as
follows:
1. Press the soft key
CALL
.
The default call is an individual routine call.
Press and turn the selector wheel knob to enter
the 9-digit MMSI number of the vessel you want to contact or use the
phone book to select a frequently called contact.
The soft key
is used to toggle between the VHF communication
and a DSC session on hold.
2. Press and turn the selector wheel knob to select other call types or set
the details for the call:
• Type:
DSC call type Category
INDIVIDUAL
(default) Routine (default) or safety calls, calls to a ship
or a station
GROUP Routine
ALL SHIPS Safety (default) or urgency
SAFETY TEST Test call, check of safety equipment
POSITION Routine position request
