BRAKE FLUID
Brake fluid level should be within 1/4 inch (6 mm) from top of reservoir (Figure 19, Page 23). Also, brake fluid
should be clean with no residue in bottom of reservoir or other evidence of contamination.
Watch fluid in reservoir while an assistant depresses the brake pedal 1/4 to 1/2 inch (6 to 12 mm). A spurt or
agitation should be visible in the brake fluid. This indicates closing of the compensating port.
ENGINE OIL
Even though the oil warning light on the dash should illuminate if oil is getting low, the engine oil level should
be checked monthly (Figure 20, Page 24). The vehicle should be on a level surface when checking oil.
OIL VISCOSITY
Choose the viscosity according to the temperature as follows:
• USE ONLY DOT–5 (SILICONE) BRAKE FLUID. USE OF ANY OTHER TYPE BRAKE FLUID IS
NOT RECOMMENDED.

• USING MULTI-GRADE OILS (5W-20, 10W-30, AND 10W-40) WILL INCREASE OIL CONSUMPTION.
CHECK OIL LEVEL MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN USING THEM.
