Once the connections are made, select contact voltage mode in the PDA and enter the maximum
fault current (value provided by the supply company).
7.3.- EARTH RESISTANCE
Pouring water around the auxiliary earth (spike system) and increasing the number of
spikes are measures that can solve the problem (safety measures must be maintained
when using/transporting water in electrical installations).
In any of the working modes (step, contact or resistance), the auxiliary earth must be
good enough to allow a correct measurement. Bear in mind that a poor auxiliary
earth adds a series resistance to the circuit, which reduces the MPC device's
performance, decreasing the current injection capacity. If you try to take
measurements with a high auxiliary earth, an Error message will appear on the PDA
screen warning you of the situation.
Measurements must be taken with full respect for the diagrams and warnings in this
manual. If not, the values obtained from the PDA will be wrong.
You must not use the earth pick that comes with the unit as an auxiliary earthing
spike.
