Air Chicago (Standard/XW/XL/XXL)

Operating Guidelines

Processing Standards

Productivity  begins  with  the  standards  set

up  by  the  supervisor.  Developing  processing

standards for using the Air Chicago is just as

important as developing other laundry processing

standards. These standards help make sure that

goods are processed in a consistent and efficient

manner.

Flatwork Condition

The Air  Chicago  can  process  all  types  of

fabrics,  including  100%  cotton  and  cotton-

polyester  blends.  It  is  recommended  that  no

heavily starched pieces be processed.

The best results are obtained when the piece

is not too damp. If a piece is too damp when it

reaches the Air Chicago, the tumble drying time

must be adjusted.

Check towels by touch when they first come

out of the dryer. Allow the pieces to sit for a few

minutes while excess steam and heat is dissipated

by its exposure to room air. After the item settles,

check it again. It should be completely dry.

CAUTION

Items with frayed edges and

loose threads can become

tangled in the rolls and

ribbons and may cause a

jam. Only process items in

good condition.

Categories

The Air  Chicago  operates  most  efficiently

when  processing  one  type  of  item  at  a  time.

Divide the goods into their categories by type. Up

to sixteen (16) programs may be entered.

For each category, program one of the four

SIZE select buttons. The refer to the

CHI PANEL

OPERATION

 bulletin,

Programming

 section

provides  a  handy  reference  for  programming.

Select the:

Name of the item being folded
The number of items in each stack
The width of the primary fold skis
Air pressure
The number of crossfolds

For  each  item  size  to  be  handled,  process

a  number  of  pieces  to  determine  the  proper

feeding  technique  and  to  check  the  outcome.

After folding, the edges of the item should be

approximately even. Once the best procedures for

each size have been found, the standards should

be posted and followed by all operators.

While  programming  the  SIZE  SELECT

buttons, it may be helpful to adjust some of the

factory settings. For more information, refer to

the  refer  to  the

CHI  PANEL  OPERATION

bulletin,

Programming

 section to set:

Primary Fold Air Blast
First Crossfold Delay and Air Blast
Second Crossfold Delay and Air Blast
Stacker Brake Delay and Doors Open

time
Conveyor timing

If you have tested all of the types of flatwork you

normally process and the results are acceptable,

you will not need to make any adjustments. The

original factory settings are satisfactory.
