Automatic Operation
Once a supervisor has customized the Air
Chicago, daily operation will normally be in
the automatic mode. The CHI panel makes this
easy.

Sort the pieces to be folded into the size
groups that are right for your location.
Press one of the SIZE SELECT buttons
(Figure 3-7, I). Four preset programs may
be accessed through each SIZE SELECT
button. The CHI system automatically:
Displays the item description.
Sets the width of the primary fold
skis.
Sets the air pressure to HI or LO.
Selects the correct number of
crossfolds.
Sets the stack height.
Feed the items squarely into the folder.
Primary-fold items will be fed into the
left half of the machine. French fold items
should be fed directly up the center of
the unit.

Manual Operation
The programs preset with the SIZE SELECT
buttons can be overridden to accommodate special
needs, such as a run of oddly sized items.

Exit automatic mode by pressing any lit
SIZE SELECT button until it goes out.
Press the WIDTH > < and < > buttons
until the desired width is shown on the
CHI panel display.
Select LO or HI pressure with the AIR
button.
Pick the style of crossfold (Figure 3-10)
with the CROSS button.
Set the number of items in a stack. Press
the CURSOR button until it is at STACK.
Press “+” or “-” until the correct number
is shown.
To exit manual mode and re-enter auto-
matic/program mode, press any of the
SIZE SELECT buttons.
