4. Software/Driver Configuration and Fine-tuning
4.1. Accelerating open-iSCSI Initiator
The following steps need to be taken to accelerate the open-iSCSI initiator:
4.1.1. Configuring interface ( iface) file
Create an interface file located under iface directory for the new transport class cxgb4i in the
following format:
iface.iscsi_ifacename = <iface file name>
iface.hwaddress = <MAC address>
iface.transport_name = cxgb4i
iface.net_ifacename = <ethX>
iface.ipaddress = <iscsi ip address>
E.g.:-
iface.iscsi_ifacename = cxgb4i.00:07:43:04:5b:da
iface.hwaddress = 00:07:43:04:5b:da
iface.transport_name = cxgb4i
iface.net_ifacename = eth3
iface.ipaddress = 102.2.2.137
Alternatively, you can create the file automatically by executing the following command:
[root@host~]# iscsiadm -m iface
Here,

iface.iscsi_ifacename
denotes the name of interface file in
/etc/iscsi/ifaces/.

iface.hwaddress
denotes the MAC address of the Chelsio interface via which iSCSI traffic
will be running.

iface.transport_name
denotes the transport name, which is cxgb4i.

iface.net_ifacename
denotes the Chelsio interface via which iSCSI traffic will be running.

iface.ipaddress
denotes the IP address which is assigned to the interface.
