Installing the DNS Software  

Software Installation 

The installer installs the Remote Control Software (RCS) which works with both the DNS2000 
and DNS3000, the DNS3000 Network Scanner, the DNS3000 Settings Loader, the DNS2000 
Firmware Upgrader, and this manual. 

Mac/OSX 

Insert the CD 

Run the .mpkg file and follow the on-screen instructions. 

PC/Windows 

Insert the CD 

Run the setup.exe file and follow the on-screen instructions. 

If there are any existing DNS2000 plug-in settings on the system, these will become available to 
the new plug-in. 

DNS3000 Network Scanner 

 

The Network Scanner must be run in order to allocate which DNS3000 units on an Ethernet 
network are available to a given instance of the RCS. Until it is run, the RCS will only be able to 
see DNS2000 units connected by USB. Allocating a unit to one PC/Mac does not prevent it being 
allocated to another, but is not recommended. 

The Network Scanner may be run directly from the Device Selection list in the RCS (see below). 
Alternatively, you may run it directly from:

OSX: 

 

Applications/CEDAR 

Scan All

 

Searches local networks and places any available units not already registered into the 'Available 
DNS Units' list. You may then make a unit available to this Mac/PC by selecting it and moving it 
to the 'Registered DNS Units' list – either by selecting a unit and using the >> button, or by 
double-clicking.
