Connect the gas  supply to

C

 fitting making sure that the

equipment can supply adequate capacity and pressure to
the torch being used.
If the air is supplied from a compressed air cylinder, the
cylinder must be equipped with a pressure regulator;

never connect a compressed air cylinder to the ma

-

chine reducer direct. Pressure may be higher than the
reducer capacity with consequent possible explosion

Connect the power cord

A

: the yellow-green cable wire

must  be  connected  to  an  efficient  system  grounding

socket; the remaining wires must be connected to the
power supply line by means of a switch placed as close
as possible to the cutting area, to allow it to be quickly
shut off in case of emergency.
The capacity of the switch or fuses installed in series with
the switch must be equal to I1eff current drawn by the
device.
The current I1eff max absorbed is determined by reading
the technical data shown on the unit in correspondence
of the available supply voltage U1.
Any extension cords must be sized appropriately for the
absorbed current I1eff max.

 4. USE

The type of torch is automatically recognised. Therefore,
when using a DAR torch, use of the interface kit (art. 441)
is required

4.1 CUTTING ( ”CUT” OPERATING MODE)

Adjust the cutting current using knob

H

 depending on:

   - the type of material chosen and the thickness to cut;
   - the gas used
following directions shown in the cutting tables.
To set the correct operating pressure, indicated on the
rear plate, proceed as follows:

   - briefly press the torch button to command opening of
the output gas flow (given that the arc does not strike, the

torch releases gas for approx. 5 seconds);
   - in this condition, using knob

D

, adjust the pressure to

the value indicated on the rear plate (5.5 – 6.0 bar for a
6 - 15 metre long torch).
The pressure is measured by pressure gauge

Z

.

   - once the pressure is adjusted, lock knob

D

 by pushing

it downward.

Press the torch trigger to strike the pilot arc. If you do not
start cutting, after 2 seconds the pilot arc goes out; to
turn it back on, press the trigger again.
Do not keep the pilot arc lit unnecessarily in the air: this
will increase consumption of the electrode, diffuser and
nozzle.
Connect the ground cable clamp to the workpiece and
make sure that the clamp and the workpiece are in good
electrical contact, especially with painted sheet metal,
oxidized, or insulated metal. Do not connect the clamp to
the piece of material to be removed.
Hold the torch upright while cutting.
Once cutting is completed and after having released the

trigger, air will keep coming out of the torch to allow it to
cool.

Do not turn off the unit before this time has elapsed

.

Adjust the cutting current using knob H from 20 to 50A
depending on the work being done.

For CP70C MAR torch

Cutting can be carried out by resting the nozzle guard
directly onto the workpiece.

In case you need to make holes or start the cut from the

centre  of  the  workpiece  (see  fig.  4),  hold  the  torch  at  a

30° angle and keep the guard a few millimetres from the
workpiece, strike it and slowly straighten it until it is per-
pendicular, so that the molten metal does not splash onto
the nozzle guard. Once it has been pierced, proceed with
the cut. This must be done when making holes in pieces
thicker than 3 mm.

If making circular cuts, we recommend using the special
calipers supplied upon request. It is important to remem-
ber that the calipers may make it necessary to employ the
above-mentioned starting technique.

If cutting in hard to reach areas, long consumables can
be used.

Closely follow the instructions contained in the cutting
chart regarding the pierce height, the working height and
the maximum cutting thickness depending on the current

(see fig. 5). Also refer to the instruction manual of the op

-

tional kit (art. 441) for the pantograph connection.

4.2

GRID CUTTING (SELF-RESTART OPERATING
MODE)

To cut drilled plates or grids, select this operating mode
by pressing button S. LED R (green) on indicates that this
function is enabled.
For the material, gas and cutting current settings, as well
as for the adjustment of the working pressure refer to par-
agraph 4.1. When cutting is completed, keep the button
pressed and the pilot arc will restart automatically.
Use this function only if required, to avoid excessive wear
of the electrode and nozzle.
