A few general points to help when using your AFX
1. The performance of the AFX is entirely dependent upon the accuracy of the
CALIBRATION
so it cannot be emphasised enough how important it is to take the time
to it precisely for each lens.
2. Due to the way focusing has to be performed on the Pocket 6K, if you are using lenses
that have a step count of below 40 it presents a challenge to prevent slight drifts when
using combinations of
AF-S
or
AF-C
with additional manual focus trim. For these low
resolution lenses, we only recommend small degrees of manual focus trim in order to
prevent this happening. Any drift should correct itself over the next few focus changes
but if you do a long press of the
UP TRIG
on the
R1 Controller
it will park the focus at
0 and correct any drift immediately.
3. When mounting the AFX, we recommend having it as low profile as possible in terms
of the top of the lens. Please remember that as the AFX is an outboard system it is not
necessary to mount it on the focal plane of the camera as it is the relationship between
the AFX’s position when being calibrated that defines the relationship to the focus
position of the lens. For this reason, you are able to mount the AFX anywhere that you
choose as long as you then use the same position (or use the
OFFSET
function) when
you use the lens.
4. If you find when using longer focal length lenses that the AFX focus detection does not
align with the object that is in the centre of the camera image then mounting the AFX
on the included ball head and tilting it downward slightly should resolve the issue.
5. Please ensure that you familiarise yourself with the different options available in the
AFX ADJUSTMENT MENU
as using these can provide performance benefits in
different situations.
6. Although the
AF-S
and
AF-C
modes are the “headline” features of the AFX, it has
been designed as a general purpose focus assisting system rather than for these
single features alone so we would encourage you to experiment with those other
functions to experience a more rounded and flexible focus solution.
