Setting up and using the Nucleus Nano Wheel
When the Tilta Focus Wheel is connected to the AFX, it provides all of the same
MANUAL
FOCUS
capability of the
R1 Controller
in all modes but with the additional benefit of
providing a more ergonomic experience.
To use the Tilta Focus Wheel with the AFX, it must have its
BLUETOOTH
mode set to
ON
and this is done by holding down the
UP
triangle on the wheel to enter the configuration
menu, followed by navigating to the
BLUETOOTH
entry, double pressing the
UP
triangle
again and then pressing the
DOWN
triangle to toggle it to
ON
.
As the Tilta Focus Wheel does not store the Bluetooth mode setting on power off, you
must switch it to
ON
prior to using it with the AFX again if you have powered the wheel
down in the meantime.
Once connected you are able to use the Focus Wheel to manually control the entire focus
range of the attached lens as well as use its
REC
button to start and stop recording on the
camera if you are using the Pocket 4K or Pocket 6K camera.
The
REC
button status on the Focus Wheel will also be updated automatically by the AFX
should you put the camera into or out of record directly on the camera or from the AFX
itself.
An additional option that is available is to use the
REC
button of the Focus Wheel to
toggle
AF-C
mode between
ON
and
OFF
and this option is selected in the main
SETUP
MENU.
As the Focus Wheel works in absolute mode, the AFX features a special update mode to
consolidate the difference between the wheel’s physical position and the focus point
generated by an
AF
event from the AFX.
For example, if the wheel is being used to manually focus the lens and is at 25% of its
travel and you activate
AF-S
to move focus and that point is now 70% of the focus travel
there would be a sharp jump back to the 25% position as soon as you touch the wheel
again.
To counteract this, after an
AF
event, the focus wheel will only resume control of the focus
when it has been moved to match its physical position to the new focus position.
In order to avoid any interference between the AFX controlling the Tilta focus motors,
please ensure that the
RF CHANNEL
that you have set on the focus wheel is different to
any that you have set on motors that you are using with the AFX.
