Safety Precautions

Check with your doctor before starting an exercise program.

If you have not been active for a long time or if you are currently under
the care of a physician, check with your doctor before starting any
program that involves strenuous activity. Should you ever start feeling
weak or abnormal while exercising, stop immediately or reduce your
pace.

Remove the ear clip if hurts your ear.

The Pulse Monitor monitors your pulse using an ear clip that you clip
onto your earlobe. You may experience swelling of the earlobe if you
wear the ear clip for a very long time or if you have thick earlobes.
Should you ever experience pain or discomfort in your earlobe while
wearing the ear clip, immediately remove it.

Never wear the Pulse Monitor while operating a motor vehicle.

Wearing the Pulse Monitor while operating an automobile, motorcycle, or
other motor vehicle creates the risk of accident.

Do not wear the Pulse Monitor during a lightening storm.

Wearing the Pulse Monitor outdoors while there is lightening in the area
creates the risk of electric shock. Take off the Pulse Monitor immediately
if you notice lightening.

Do not set the volume so high that you cannot hear sounds
around you.

Using a volume level that is too high while walking can interfere with
your hearing normal sounds around you. Also, be sure to remove the
Pulse Monitor when approaching a railroad crossing, a construction site,
and any other area where you need to be cautious of what is going on
around you.

Be careful with battery fluid.

Touching battery fluid leaking from a battery creates the risk of loss of
eyesight, personal injury, and skin inflammation.

Should battery fluid ever get into your eyes, immediately flush with
clean water and contact your physician.

Should battery fluid ever get onto your skin or clothing, immediately
rinse the area with clean water.

Securely tighten the battery cover screws.

After replacing the battery, make sure that you securely tighten the two
screws that secure the battery cover. A loose battery cover can allow
water to get inside of the Pulse Monitor, and can cause battery fluid to
escape should the battery ever leak.

Guard against hearing damage.

Take care to avoid listening to output from the earpieces for long periods
at high volume, which can adversely affect your hearing.

Keep the earpieces away from objects that can be affected by
magnetism.

Keep the earpieces away from credit cards, ATM cards, and any other
items that have a magnetic strip. Magnets in the earpieces can affect the
data recorded on a magnetic strip.

Never try to take the Pulse Monitor apart.

Trying to take the Pulse Monitor apart creates the risk of personal injury
and product malfunction.

Battery Precautions

Miss-handling of a battery can cause it to leak, which can soil and
damage the area around the battery, leading to the risk of fire and
personal injury. Be sure to observe the following important battery
handling precautions.

Make sure that the positive (+) and negative (–) ends of the battery
are facing correctly when you load it into the Pulse Monitor.

Remove the battery from the Pulse Monitor if you do not plan to
use it for a long time.

Use only the type of battery specifically recommended for the
Pulse Monitor.

Keep all batteries out of the reach of small children. If a battery is
accidentally swallowed, contact a physician immediately.

When replacing the battery, take care that no foreign objects get
inside of the battery compartment. Foreign objects create the risk of
fire and electric shock.

Removing or loading the battery can damage long fingernails. Take
care when removing or loading batteries.
