Requirements:
- the musicbox Air 3 is powered up and connected to the WlAN router
- the computer being used for the update must be connected to the same network as the musicbox Air 3
- Always use the latest version of the firmware. Follow the steps 1–5 of this chapter to find the firmware
version installed on your musicbox Air 3. download the most recent version from www.canton.de or
contact the canton customer service department
Procedure:
1. At first remove the device connected to the usp port, if neccessary
2. Find out the current ip adress of the musicbox Air 3 within your network router’s “connected devices” menu
and write it down. When necessary please refer to the instructions of your network router. if the name
musicbox Air 3 is not listed in your router, search for the Mac address of musicbox Air 3. this address can be
found on the white sticker on the left side of the connection terminal („MAc id: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX“)
3. save the new firmware file of the musicbox Air 3 on a local drive of your Mac/pc
4. start the internet browser and enter the previously noted ip address into the address bar (image 1)
5. select “english” in the “language” field. click on the “Firmware update” button. the browser will show
the current firmware version (image 2).
6. Now click on “ok” (image 2). the led ring starts to illuminate in all colours
7. Wait the indicated 30 seconds until a new window opens (image 3)
8. Now click on “browse” (image 4) and use the file browser to navigate to the update file on your Mac/pc.
select the update file by double clicking on it
9. Now click on “upload” (image 4). both the new and old version of the firmware will be shown (image 5)
10. Now click on “ok” if you really want to install the update, otherwise click on “cancel” (image 5).
the led ring starts blinking in all colours if “ok” has been selected
11. the progress bar runs through up to 3 times (image 6). this process can take up to 3 minutes. do not
interrupt the mains connection during this time and do not switch off the musicbox Air 3. Wait until the
following message appears: “the update process finished successfully”
12. After the firmware update the musicbox Air 3 will reboot automatically and reconnects to the previously
selected network
13. click on “close”. confirm the note that appears by clicking on “ok”. if the internet browser does not close
automatically, close it manually
