Note
Replacing the Printhead
The printhead normally does not require replacement. However, if two
unsuccessful B and C printhead cleanings do not restore high quality
printing, or if a Service Call Error is displayed, contact a Help Desk or
service center for assistance in replacing the printhead.

Contact a Canon service center for details about how to obtain a replacement
printhead.
How to Replace the Printhead
To replace the printhead, you must execute the “Replace Head” feature of
the Utility Menu and follow the order of the messages on the printer
operation panel to complete the following tasks:
• Set the printer offline.
• Execute “Replace Head”
• Remove all ink tanks
• Drain all ink from the printhead then remove the printhead
• Install the new printhead
• Install all ink tanks
• When ink filling processing is completed, press the Online button.

Press the Power button to switch the printer on.
After a few seconds “Ready” is displayed in the operation panel and the
Online lamp lights.
