Respiratory System
The simulator represents a realistic Respiratory System to achieve an extremely accurate simulation
of respiration. This system is tightly integrated with the Cardiovascular System.
In addition to the Base configuration features, theLive and Complete configurations include features
to enhance the fidelity of the simulator.
See the
Appendix A - Recommended Clinical Supplies
section of this user guide for information
associated with the Respiratory System features of the simulator.
Cardiovascular System
Similar to the Respiratory System, the Cardiovascular System accurately simulates a wide variety of
hemodynamic conditions and responses.
Base Respiratory System Features
Symmetric lung ventilation is supported in response to manual bag-valve-mask (BVM) ventilation
via face mask, endotracheal tube or tracheostomy tube.
The manikin’s bottom dentures can be removed for practicing oral and dental hygiene.
Nasal packing can be performed on both nares, utilizing ribbon gauze, nasal packs or tampons.
Bilateral chest tubes can be placed for chest tube care and maintenance (no fluids).
The airway accommodates the use of standard clinical devices such as nasopharyngeal and
oropharyngeal airways, nasal cannula, nasal packing, endotracheal tube placement, and
tracheostomy tube placement.
Airway suctioning with real fluids is supported, with easy access for filling and draining the airway
reservoir.
Bottom dentures are removable to allow denture care and replacement.
A chest tube can be inserted into the mid-axillary line of the fifth intercostal space on the right side
of the manikin for practicing care and maintenance of a chest tube.
Live and CompleteRespiratory System Features
The simulated patient generates lung sounds, including a range of pathological sounds. There are
four anterior lung sound speakers which can be controlled independently.
4 breath sound speakers
1 vocal speaker at right shoulder
Laryngospasms
Base Cardiovascular System
The manikin accommodates bilateral carotid pulses that are actuated manually using the carotid
pulse assembly kit.
