Engine Oil
Your vehicle’s engine requires a
special oil that meets GM Standard
GM4718M. Oils meeting this
standard may be identified as
synthetic. Not all oils, however, will
meet this GM standard. Use only oils
that are identified as meeting GM
Standard GM4718M, and have the
starburst symbol
on the front of
the oil container.
Your vehicle’s engine is filled at the
factory with a Mobil 1
®
synthetic oil,
which meets all the requirements for
your STS. See Section 5 of your
Owner Manual for extensive engine
oil information.
Engine Coolant
Your vehicle’s cooling system uses
DEX-COOL
®
extended life engine
coolant, which is designed to last for
5 years or 150,000 miles (240,000
km), whichever occurs first — if you
add only DEX-COOL
®
coolant.
See
Section 5 of your Owner Manual for
additional cooling system
information.
Resetting the CHANGE OIL NOW
Message
The STS is equipped with the GM Oil
Life System, which calculates when
to change your engine oil based on
vehicle use. Whenever your oil is
changed, reset the system so it can
determine when the next oil change
is due.
To reset the system:
•
Press the up or down arrow to
scroll the DIC to display OIL LIFE.
•
Once the ENGINE OIL LIFE figure
appears, press and hold the RESET
button until it reads 100%.
If the figure does not return to 100%
or if the CHANGE OIL NOW message
reappears when starting the vehicle,
the system has not been reset.
Repeat the above procedure.
Windshield Washer Fluid
When the windshield washer fluid
level is low, a Check Washer Fluid
message will appear in the Driver
Information Center (DIC). To add
washer fluid, open the cap with the
washer symbol
and fill the tank
until full.
