NOTE
If the Earth Stake cannot be inserted into the ground then simply laying it flat on the ground
will often provide a successful earth connection when using the Signal Hopping technique.

Using the Signal Generator/Transmitter:
Signal Hopping
(SGV4/MXT4 only)
Signal Hopping using Direct Connection Leads
If it is difficult or inconvenient to use the Direct
Connection method of signal application then
an alternative technique called Signal Hopping
can be utilised to successfully energise a street
lighting or car park lighting cable with the Signal
Generator/Transmitter signal.
Wrap the red Direct Connection lead around the street
lighting column (two or three times if possible).
This is particularly useful if it is difficult to get a good
metal to metal connection between the Crocodile Clip
or Magnet and the column.
The black Direct Connection lead is connected to
the Earth Stake positioned away from the column.
For MXT4 Transmitter only, ensure 131kHz (HF) or
CF frequency setting is selected.
