Function Card Access
The function cards fitted into the ProDAQ 3150 High-Performance Motherboard can be accessed through
their address spaces in the boards address space. The function card address space (registers, memory,
etc.) is organized in 16-bit words. Using different mapping for the VXIbus access types, the function cards
can be accessed seperately, combined or all at once.
Single Function Card Access
When accessing a single function card, the VXIbus data cycles are mapped as:
D16 Single read
FC Single Word Transfer Read
D16 Single write
FC Single Word Transfer Write
D16 BLT read
FC Block Transfer Read
D16 BLT write
FC Block Transfer Write
D32 Single read
FC Block Transfer Read (two 16-bit words)
D32 Single write
FC Block Transfer Write (two 16-bit words)
D32 BLT read
FC Block Transfer Read (n x two 16-bit words)
D32 BLT write
FC Block Transfer Write (n x two 16-bit words)
Note: The 32-bit to two 16-bit word transfer order depends on the VME_ORDER bit in the
Util
register.
Multiple Function Card Access
By selecting functions cards in the
FCMASK
register, multiple function cards can be accessed
simultaneously. In this mode, VXIbus D32 data cycles are mapped as
D32 Single read
2 FC Single Word Transfer Read
D32 BLT read
2 FC Block Transfer Read
D32 Single write
2 FC Single Word Transfer Write
D32 BLT write
2 FC Block Transfer Write
In this mode, the lower 16-bit part of a D32 cycle will access one function card on stack A or C (function
cards 1, 2, 5, 6) while the upper 16-bit part will access one function card on stack B or D (function cards 3, 4,
7, 8). Write cycles may access all combination of cards simultaneously, while read cycles may only access
exactly two function cards (FC1 or FC2 or FC5 or FC6 AND FC3 or FC4 or FC7 or FC8).
