4.3 SYSTEMS WITH SEVERAL EXCHANGES
4.3.2 Systems with independent exchanges
A system with independent Exchanges is a system where there are several Exchanges with
different functions and roles (
e.g.: central porter’s office, night watchman, technical room
) and
the calls from EP or IU only reach the Exchange called and not all the Exchanges at the same
time.
This application can also be useful for other uses, e.g.:
●
Parking
– where there are several operators at the different exits, needing to answer calls
from IU, communicate and check several monitoring cameras.
●
Multi-family
– system (
max 4 families
) requiring intercom and/or possibility of direct access
to more than 4 cameras (
up to 4 cameras direct switching on is possible using the Pivot
standard internal unit with items 346190 and 391470
).
Correct operation of this type of installation requires enough extra power supplies and each
Exchange must have a system address different from each EP (
see sect. 4.1
).
The normal porter Switchboard functions will be varied as follows:
●
DAY/NIGHT switching
– only the main Exchange (
optional in this installation
) can perform
and program the switching of the system DAY/NIGHT state (
see sect. 3.4.3
). If the enable
all EP option has been selected for the DAY/NIGHT function on the main Exchange, or if
the local address of the secondary Exchanges is in the list of the EP on which the function
should be activated (
see page 46
), the programmed state D/N will appear on the display of
the secondary Exchanges, but no switching will be possible on pressing the
button.
●
Call from Entrance panel
– when the system is in DAY, the main exchange receives the
calls from the EP on which the DAY/NIGHT function is enabled (
see
page 46
), while in
NIGHT the Exchanges can only receive the calls from the EP if the system is set up to
operate as described in section 4.2. Each Exchange can transfer the call to the IU.
●
Call from IU -
each Exchange receives the calls sent to it. To call several Exchanges from
the same IU install accessory item 391460 (
4 Pivot buttons
), use distribution block item
346190 and configure the correct local addresses on the Exchanges (
see sect. 4.1
).
●
Panic Allarm
– to guarantee the responsibility of answering an alarm falling on just one
position, only the master Exchange can receive and manage the Panic alarm call.
Each system Exchange can manage the switch on the EP, door lock, lights and cycling came-
ra functions individually.
A call cannot be put through from one Exchange to another. The Exchanges can communicate
however; type the code of the exchange to be called and press the
button.
