Stray Radiation
1.
Use the “SMART X2S Admin” application (on the SMART X2S Service CD) to open the
X-ray shutter.
WARNING
!
CAUTION
!
If you do not have the SMART X2S Service CD
available, contact Bruker AXS. Do not attempt to
open the X-ray shutter in any other way unless
specifically directed by Bruker AXS personnel.
2.
Survey the entire SMART X2S cabinet with the Geiger counter at a distance of 50 mm
from the surface to determine areas of high intensity radiation emission.
3.
When a radiation emission area has been located, measure the specific emission
averaged over 100 square cm with the Victoreen RF/C ionization detector at a distance
of 50 mm from the surface of the goniometer cabinet.
4.
Record the location and measured intensity of stray radiation on the diagram. The stray
radiation shall not exceed 0.5 mR/hr.
