About this User Manual

The Structure of this User Manual
This User Manual describes the SMART X2S and its functions, and illustrates the steps required to
perform a structure determination:
•
Introduction to the SMART X2S
describes the system, its specifications, and its
functions;
•
Sample Preparation and Mounting
discusses separating a crystal from the bulk
sample and attaching it to the micromount;
•
Setting Up Data Collection
starts the data collection by entering crystal information,
and then inserting the blank CD and sample;
•
Data Collection and Structure Solution
describes the steps in the SMART X2S
automatic data collection and structure solution phase;
•
Structure View, Report Display, and CD Burning
describes the SMART X2S results
after collecting and solving the structure;
•
The Data CD
describes the report and files on the CD, which contain all the information
necessary to publish the structure (or, if desired, work further with it in Bruker’s APEX2
software suite); and
•
SMART X2S Administrator Information
discusses procedures and operations to be
carried out by the SMART X2S Administrator (i.e., an on-site person responsible for the
instrument’s security, safety, and function).
