Check the connectors under the shift lever and near the solenoids in the engine 
compartment.

Check the solenoids on the transmission control valve.  The coils of two of the 
solenoids should be magnetized whenever the shift lever is out of neutral and the 
ignition switch is on.  The following chart shows the solenoids that are energized as

If there are problems with power, speed or shifting that are not caused by the engine 
or by electrical problems, check the oil.  Drain the transmission, remove the filter and 
suction screen, check them for excessive contamination and save the contaminants 
for further examination. 

 
If abnormal contamination is found or a problem cannot be diagnosed and fixed by the 
above steps, please call your Broderson dealer or the Broderson Service Department to 
have a Funk Manufacturing service representative contact you. 
 

TOWING 

 

If the crane must be towed, run the engine at low idle to release the parking brake and 
lubricate the transmission and do not exceed 10 mph (16 km/hr).  If the engine cannot be 
run, release the parking brake by turning the adjustment screw counterclockwise until 
loose.  Do not exceed 3 mph (5 km/hr) and one mile (1.6 km) total distance while towing.  
Afterward, readjust the park brake by the procedure on Page 3-34.  If these conditions 
cannot be met, disconnect the drive lines and do not exceed 10 mph (16 km/hr).
