Preparing for the Brocade VDX 8770-8 installation

Cables can be managed in a variety of ways, such as by routing cables below the chassis, to
either side of the chassis, through cable channels on the sides of the cabinet, or by using
patch panels.

Ensure that the following is available for configuration of the Brocade VDX 8770-8: QUESTION:

Ensure that the air intake and exhaust vents have a minimum of 5.1 cm (2 in.) of airspace.

Ensure that the air temperature on the air intake side is less than 40°C (104°F) during
operation.
Power specifications
Power for the Brocade VDX 8770-8 can be supplied with either AC- or DC-based 3000 watt power
supplies. The Brocade VDX 8770-8 has room for up to eight 12V DC output power supplies.
Table 3
shows the basic power specifications for each power supply.

CAUTION
For the DC input circuit to the system of a Brocade VDX 8770-8 (3000W power supply), make
sure there is an 80 A circuit breaker, minimum -48VDC, double pole, on the input lugs to the
power supply. The input wiring for the connection to the chassis should be copper wire, 2
American Wire Guage (AWG), marked VW-1, and rated minimum 90°C.
