INSTALLATION
XLR Connector Pinout/Cable Preparation
The AES Switcher Sentinel 2+1® interfaces to external equipment through 3-pin
XLR jacks and St compatible RJ45 jacks for audio signals. The input and
output AES/EBU XLR connector pinouts conform to 3-pin XLR Wiring Standards:
Pin 1 = Ground. Pin 2 = Positive. Pin 3 = Negative.
For AES/EBU signals please use AES/EBU qualified digital audio cable.
CAUTION! Installation of the AES Switcher Sentinel 2+1® in high RF envi-
ronments should be performed with care. The station ground should be con-
nected to the designated “Chs Gnd” ground terminal.
AES/EBU Inputs and Outputs
The AES Switcher Sentinel 2+1’s two AES/EBU inputs and output have 3-pin XLR
jacks.
AES In 1 = Primary AES input (AES Silence Sensor 1) XLR-F
AES In 2 = Backup AES input (AES Silence Sensor 2) XLR-F
AES Output = AES Switcher Output XLR-M
AES/EBU signal switching is accomplished via mechanical latching gold contact
relays, which means that the unit will keep routing the lasted selected signal even
after losing power. Input 3, the analog-to-digital input, will only operate while the
unit is powered up.
