High Temperature
ThisfaultisindicatedbyfaultcodeFC_7andsevenblinks
ontheLEDindicator.Thecontactsofthetemperatureswitch
( A )arenormallyopen.Iftheengineoiltemperatureexceeds
approximately148.9°C(300°F),thefaultisdetectedandthe
engineshutsdown.
Commoncausesforthisconditionincluderunningthe
unitwithallaccesscoversremoved,obstructedairinletor
exhaustport,lowoillevel,ordebrisintheenginecylinder
coolingfins.
Toresolvetheproblem,lettheenginecooldownandremove
anyaccumulateddebrisandobstructions.Ensurethatthe
accesscoversareinstalledwhenevertheunitisrunning.
Transfer Switch Fault
ThisfaultisindicatedbyfaultcodeFC_8andeightblinkson
theLEDindicator(iftransferswitchisequippedwithfault
detection).Themostlikelycauseofthisfaultisablownfuse
inthetransferswitch.
Toremedytheproblem,contactyourinstalleroraBriggs&
StrattonAuthorizedDealer.
Generator Maintenance
Thegeneratorwarrantydoesnotcoveritemsthathavebeen
subjectedtooperatorabuseorneglect.Toreceivefullvalue
fromthewarranty,theoperatormustmaintainthesystemas
instructedintheengineoperator’smanual.
Alladjustmentsshouldbemadeatleastonceeachseason.
Followtherequirementsintheengineoperator’smanual.
Generatormaintenanceconsistsofkeepingtheunit
clean.Operatetheunitinanenvironmentwhereitwill
notbeexposedtoexcessivedust,dirt,moistureorany
corrosivevapors.Coolingairlouversontheenclosure
mustnotbecomecloggedwithsnow,leaves,oranyother
foreignmaterial.Topreventgeneratordamagecausedby
overheating,keeptheenclosurecoolinginletsandoutlets
cleanandunobstructedatalltimes.
Checkthecleanlinessoftheunitfrequentlyandcleanwhen
dust,dirt,oil,moistureorotherforeignsubstancesare
visibleonitsexterior/interiorsurface.Inspecttheairinletand
outletopeningsinsideandoutsidetheenclosuretoensure
airflowisnotblocked.
NOTE :DONOTusedirectsprayfromagardenhosetoclean
generator.Watercanentertheengineandgeneratorand
causeproblems.
Engine Oil
Thesystemisfilledwithsyntheticoil(APISJ/CF5W-30W).
Thisallowsforsystemoperationinthewidestrangeof
temperatureandclimateconditions.
NOTE :Theuseofsyntheticoil does not altertherequiredoil
changeintervalsdescribedintheengineoperator’smanual.
Changing Engine Oil and Filter
Removethetwoscrewsfromeachplasticaccesscover
andremovebothaccesscoversfromthetwosidesofthe
generatorenclosure.

1. Placetheoildraintubeintoanapprovedcontainer.
