10.5 Transferring the concentrate
Before transferring the concentrate into a suitable storage tank, the filters in the system
ECOM
ix
must be checked (a suitable storage tank must have at least the capacity required for the concentrate
to be decanted at the time of decanting).
10.6 Filling of canisters
If canisters are to be filled, the basic recommendation is to fill a storage tank and fill the canisters
from there. For the filling of the canisters, the corresponding local regulations apply (among other
things to the hygiene, to the marking).
If, unlike this, canisters are to be filled directly from the
ECOM
ix, there is a separate program for
canister filling available. It is shown whenever there is no tank available for transfer and can also be
selected manually instead of a tank. Before use, make sure that the following conditions are met:
• In order to fill canisters, a nozzle with hose and the corresponding connector must be connected.
• The installation of the fuel nozzle must be done on the last
ECOT
ank. To do this, remove
the dummy insert in the concentrate inlet at the electric actuator and mount the nozzle with
the fitting.
Attention: The content of the first canister (about 5 l) has to be discarded, as there
may be another type of concentrate in the concentrate feed to the
ECOT
anks.
The facility is responsible for ensuring that the canisters are suitable for storing dialy-
sis concentrate in terms of condition, hygiene, labelling and regulatory requirements.
10.7 Practical advice
• You should leave residual quantities in the filtration module of the
ECOM
ix system after
preparing the concentrate and decanting it into suitable storage tanks.
• After producing 4 or 8
ECOC
arts coarse and fine filters must be replaced in the
ECOM
ix.
• The time required for filling the mixing tank depends on the performance of the existing osmosis
system. This partly depends on the amount of permeate used by the dialysis machines.
10.8 Safety instructions
• Use maximum care and cleanliness.
• Never operate the production system without filters.
• Check filters regularly (contamination).
• Replace the filters after 4 or 8
ECOC
arts have been produced.
• Do not introduce dirt or solids into the mixing tank.
• Only use operating media approved by INTERMEDT
• Flush the production system after preparing each batch.
• After a disinfection action, flush the entire system with sufficient quantities of RO water.
• Perform a safety check at least once per year.
