8.1
Maintenance
The VAM 12.1/VAM 42.1 machine control panels are maintenance-free.
Dissolution of the foil surface as well as the
display seal by solvents or by high pressure
cleaning devices!
NOTICE
●
Do not use any solvents (e. g. diluents)!
●
Do not use compressed air, steam jet and high pressure cleaning devices!
8.2
Torques and Stripping Length
Torques
Destruction of screw terminals, insufficient
contact and loss of UL certification if no copper
wire is used and/or wrong tightening torque.
NOTICE
For wiring connection terminals use copper wire only. Tighten the screws of the
screw terminal blocks with a tightening torque of 2.25 lb in (0.22 Nm).
Stripping length
The stripping length for female connector strips is 10 mm.
8.3
GSD File
With the devices two GSD files according to EN 50170 Part 2 (DP) are provided.
These files contain all data allowing to connect the VAM 12.1/VAM 42.1 to any
DP master (according to EN 50170 Part 2 (DP)). The master manufacturer de‐
livers or defines a suitable DP configuration tool with its DP master. A sample
configuration with IndraLogic is described in
chapter 8.10 "Sample Configura‐
tion Using IndraLogic" on page 81
.
RX060123.GSD is a GSD file that describes the VAM 12.1/VAM 42.1 without
override module as compact DP slave. The GSD file is selected in the DP con‐
figuration tool via the station name "VAM12, VAM42".

override module as compact DP slave. This GSD file is selected in the DP
configuration tool via the station name "VAM12, VAM42 VD".

8.4
PROFIBUS DP Address Settings
The station addresses 1-99 are set via the two BCD rotary switches S1 and S2
(see
fig. 8-1 "BCD rotary switches S1 and S2" on page 72
). S1 represents
the tens digit and S2 the ones digit of the station address.
The address must be set if there is no voltage.
