It is not possible to provide test values and test instructions
due to the broad range of manufacturers, types and
performance ratings available on the market.
Request the appropriate test instructions from the respective
vehicle or assembly manufacturer.
7.4.2
No-load test
This is usually done without meshing the pinion. Since, however,
the frictional resistance of the unbraked ring gear (under no load)
on the test bench is very low, the no-load values can also be
measured when the ring gear is being driven.
- Method as for load test (see chapter 7.4.1), but without
actuating the brake pedal.
7.4.3
Short-circuit test
Short-circuit testing is effected by braking the starting motor to a
standstill within 1-2 seconds using the brake pedal and at the
same time reading off the current and voltage. Blocking is to be
carried out only for a short time, maximum 2 seconds.
The test specifications given in the test-specification sheets apply
when using 143 Ah batteries, three-quarter charged. Deviations
between the test specifications and the measured values may
possibly be due to different battery sizes or state of charge.
- Method as for load test (see chapter 7.4.1), but the starting
motor is braked by actuating the brake pedal within 1-2 seconds
until it comes to a standstill.
