Section 7. Troubleshooting
Symptom:
Solution:
System not operating, display not illuminated.
Check power supply.
- Plugged in? Is the supply socket live?
- Power cable intact? (See page 3.10 ).
Check the fuse.
There is a 3A fuse located at the left on
the rear panel.
“Low Light - No Reading”.
Check that the optical path is clear
.
- Vehicle/personnel obstruction? – move!
- Heavy fog? – wait.
- Heavy rain? – wait.
- Cobwebs/birds? – Clean and prevent a recurrence.
- Window dirty? – Clean (see page 6.2).
Verify optical alignment (see page 3.6).
Note
: If the system enters the “Low Light - No Reading”
status condition due to a temporary path obstruction, normal
operation will automatically resume once the obstruction has
been removed (e.g. fog lifts, rain stops or vehicle/equipment
is moved).
No data transmission from GasFinderFCr to the computer.
Check that the correct
baud rate
is selected (usually 9600).
- Enter
System Menus
, and scroll to the
Serial Baud Rate
window.
Verify that the data cable is connected and the cable is OK (see page 3.10)
Note:
It is possible with a digital voltmeter to see a very short signal pulse
between pins 2 and 5 on the DB9 connector.
The light is always at the maximum of 16368.
To lower the light, use a fi breoptic attenuator.
If an attenuator is not available, remove or
cover some of the retrorefl ectors or position the
refl ective tape at an angle to the beam.
Note:
If there is too much light returning to the photo diode, it is
possible to damage the optical components. See Section 3.
