Spring preload
Adjustment
It is essential to set spring pre-
load of the rear suspension to
suit the load carried by the mo-
torcycle. Increase spring pre-
load when the vehicle is heavily
loaded and reduce spring preload
accordingly when the vehicle is
lightly loaded.
Adjusting spring preload
for rear wheel
Removing front seat ( 126).
Removing the toolkit.
WARNING
Spring preload setting and
spring-strut damping setting
not matched.
Impaired handling.
Adjust spring-strut damping to
suit spring preload.
To increase the spring preload,
turn the knurled wheel
1 clock-
wise using the tool from the
toolkit.
To reduce the spring preload,
turn the knurled wheel
1 anti-
clockwise using the tool from
the toolkit.
Basic setting of spring
preload, rear
without Dynamic ESA
OE
Turn the adjuster knob
counter-clockwise as far as
it will go. (One-up without
luggage)
Turn the adjuster knob
counter-clockwise as far as
it will go, then back it off
20 turns in the clockwise
direction. (One-up with
luggage)
Turn the adjuster knob clock-
wise as far as it will go. (Two-
up with luggage)
Insert the toolkit again.
