Before you start using:
How to get started with a fitness prog ram depends on current physical condition. If you have been
physically inactive for a prolonged period of time, start slow and gradually increase exercise time for
a few minutes at a time per week.
At the beginning, you may only be able to exercise for a few minutes at the target heart rate range.
Your aerobic fitness will improve in about six to eight weeks. Exercise at a comfortable and steady
pace.
Consult a doctor before starting an exercise or training program. Ask a doctor to review your training
and diet plan and advise on the exercise plan.
Set fitness goals with a doctor to ensure that the plan is realistic and attainable. Always check the
pulse. If there is no electronic pulse reader, ask a doctor how to measure the pulse from the wrist or
neck. In addition, set the target heart rate based on age and physical condition.
Drink plenty of water during exercise to prevent dehydration. Avoid drinking ice water or beverages in
excess. It is advised that water or beverages should be at room temperature.
